This past summer, I had the incredible opportunity to work at GoDaddy as a Software Development Engineer Intern on the Domain Name Auctions team. Looking back at my experience, I want to share some highlights and learnings from my time there.

The Frontend Experience

As a frontend developer on the Auctions team, I worked with a modern tech stack to enhance the user experience of GoDaddy’s domain auction platform. Coming from a background of designing UI/UX at hackathon projects, it was eye-opening to see how frontend development works at scale in a professional environment. I especially appreciated how the company prioritizes clean UI and intuitive user interfaces to ensure the best experience for our customers.

Professional Growth

Throughout the summer, I grew significantly as a developer. Daily standups, code reviews, and collaboration with my team helped me understand how professional software development teams operate. The comprehensive documentation and supportive team environment made it easier to learn new technologies and contribute meaningfully to the project.

Mentorship and Team Culture

My mentor and mentor buddy were instrumental in my growth, always available to answer questions and provide guidance. The team’s culture of open communication and knowledge sharing made me feel valued and supported throughout my internship.

Building at Scale

One of the most valuable aspects of my internship was experiencing how a large tech company operates and delivers features that impact millions of users. The emphasis on code quality, testing, and user experience gave me a new perspective on software development that I’ll carry forward in my career.

Final Thoughts

This summer at GoDaddy was more than just a technical learning experience ā€” it was an opportunity to work with talented engineers, contribute to meaningful projects, and understand what it takes to build products at scale.
